27 Song Lyrics Any Traveler Will Adore

16.05.2016

When you do a lot of travel, you do a lot of listening to music. On buses, trains, and waiting for the airplane to take off already. Most of the time I zone out and let the music sort of wash over me, but sometimes when I'm in that trance-like state, staring out the window and watching the world roll past, a lyric hits me like a bolt of lightening.

You know the feeling; the one you got as a teenager when some dramatic breakup song was playing and you just new that the artist was singing for you. Well these are a few song lyrics from my favorite travel playlist that make me feel that unreal connection. For all the travelers out there, get your playlists ready. You've got a few songs to add...

Travel songs you should know (and my favorite quotes from them)

“I am a wild child, yes I am. I love the country and I want to run free.”

              -Wild Child, Brett Dennen

"I'm just a traveler on this earth, sure as my heart's behind the pocket of my shirt. I'll just keep rolling til I'm in the dirt, 'cause I'm a traveler."

              -Traveller, Chris Stapelton

"I'm just a lost kid, stumbling through these towns, stuck in between highways, nothing feels the same."

              -Lost Kid, Apache Relay

"Children get out, out of the buildings. Get out of the buildings and into the fields. Young faces turn to the sky as the planes appear. Future is yesterday, yesterday's coming... There's a hole in the sky that the birds fly through, and I want to fly too."

-There's a Hole in The Sky, Gary Jules

"I was set sailing like a character in a book. I think this is what it's like to be free."

-Chromatic, The Lighthouse and the Whaler

"This house is safe and warm, but I was made to chase the storm, taking the whole world on with big ol' empty arms."

              -Badge and Gun, John Mayer

"They call me the breeze. I keep blowin' down the road."

-Call Me the Breeze, John Mayer

"See, I was born the second child with a spirit running wild, running free... See, I was born a restless child

and I could hear the world outside calling me."

-Second Child, Restless Child, The Oh Hellos

"I want see the world, I wanna sail the ocean. I wanna know what it feels like to never come back again."

-Never Come Back Again, Austin Plaine

"I can barely sleep the night, dreaming about brand new spaces and brand new faces."

-Brand New Spaces, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald

"Have you ever wandered lonely through the woods? And everything there feels as it should. You're part of a life there, you're part of something good, if you've ever wandered lonely through the woods."

              -Brandi Carlile, Have You Ever

"Step after step I jump in and step off the beaten path. As the long journey begins, I walk the wild at last."

              -I Can Breathe Again, Baywood

"Let me tell you mister, you should always talk to strangers, because you never really know the brilliant things that you might hear."

-In a Perfect World, The Sam Chase

"I'll say I'm free, but I'll really be chained to that open sea."

              -Sail On, Thomas Csorba

"I see the road; it's curving out southbound and east through the mountains, alone in my thoughts. And the world seems safer than my mind's empty whisper; the comfort in the shelter that I find on the road."

-I Still Have to Go, Tyson Motsenbocker

"Oh my my, honey, every body dies. But you've got, you've got to see that you can live your life walking in a straight line, but it's more than just A to B."

              -A to B, Matt Hires

"The road will teach you how to love and let go. It can be lonely, but it's the only thing that we've ever known."

-Wash It Away, Nahko and Medicine for the People

"Son, in life you're gonna go far. If you do it right, you'll love where you are. Just know, wherever you are, you can always come home."

              -93 Million Miles, Jason Mraz

"I keep running around, trying to find the ground, but my head is in the stars and me feet are in the sky."

-King of the World, First Aid Kid

"I wanna hold the whole wide world, right here in my open hands. And maybe I'm just a little girl... a little girl with great big plans."

              -Whole Wide World, Mindy Glendhill

"Nothing ever happens if you stay in your room. Nothing ever happens if you leave the party too soon. Never be a winner if you're not in the game. Nothing ever happens if you always play it safe. Make a little space and get out of your own way."

              -Nothing Ever Happens, Rachel Platten

"We won't forget where we came from, the city won't change us, we beat to the same drum. It don't matter where we go; we always find our way back home."

              -Back Home, Andy Grammer

"You're searching for answers in clouds and under rocks. Isn't this world enough?"

-Isn't This World Enough?, Admiral Fallow

"You need not to reach for the stars, when life becomes so dark. And when the wind does blow against the grain, you must follow your heart."

-Against the Grain, City and Colour

"My jeans are too tight and my hair is too long. You look at me like I'm a vagabond. Well maybe I am. The sun's going down, the lights come on, I'll keep driving 'til the day is done on the 101. I'm going North, but I won't know where I'm going until I get there."

              -San Francisco, Stu Larsen

"You belong among the wildflowers. You belong in a boat out at sea. Sail away, kill off the hours. You belong somewhere you feel free."
