A Review of Villagg Tal Fanal in Gozo
I spent my first day in Malta exploring the old streets of Valetta, touring St. John's cathedral, and eating over-priced fish. That night I stayed in a lovely hostel, but hostel none-the-less. The next day I hopped on a ferry to Gozo and my vacation quickly changed pace. I left the tourists behind and set foot on the quieter, less developed island of Gozo. But that wasn't the only change of pace. I also traded youth hostel for vacation rental. And as much as I loved the hostel, I was not about to complain about the change. Villagg tal Fanal, the vacation rental where I spent my first two nights on Gozo, was a stunning complex of rentals offering a peaceful, luxurious escape from the hectic energy of Malta.
Villagg Tal Fanal is a tranquil place to recharge
All of Gozo island oozed peace. Nothing is rushed on this island and everywhere I went an air of tranquility hung above me. Villagg tal Fanal was the culmination of this atmosphere. I was lucky to visit just before tourist season, so half the rooms were empty and the other half were filled with quiet, friendly families. During my two nights at Villagg tal Fanal, I hardly saw the other guests and when I went to sleep I felt like I was sleeping in the middle of nowhere (what with the star-filled skies and silent nights).
The minute I arrived at Villagg tal Fanal I felt relaxed. The palm trees and sparkling pool area are incredibly inviting and after quickly dropping my bags I stepped into my swimsuit and planted myself next to the pool. The warm sun and cool pool water were exactly what I needed after weeks of balancing final papers, increasing hours at my job, and the general stress of completing my Master's courses. It didn't take long for the relaxing setting of Villagg tal Fanal to wipe that all away and leave me feeling ready for whatever the rest of spring held for me.
This luxurious vacation rental has everything you need in a temporary home
Villagg tal Fanal is the kind of place you could stay for awhile. The mini-homes have everything you need. From cozy bedrooms to fully equipped kitchens, they are the perfect rentals for family vacations or long stays. They also have one, two, three, and four-bedroom options so you can find a perfect home for you and your travel mates, whomever they may be.
Personally, I loved vacation rentals. I love the ability to make my own meals and move at my own pace without worrying about other guests or hosts. Villagg tal Fanal gave me that freedom while still making me feel like I was at a luxurious resort. Especially in the morning when I would sit on my private porch sipping tea and watching the newly-rising sun flood the pool area with sunshine.
It's centrally located without being in the middle of everything
In my opinion, this vacation rental was ideally located. It's a little outside of the city, meaning its secluded and quiet, but it's easy to get to and easy to get anywhere from. There's a bus stop just around the corner that leads straight into Victoria, the capital city of Gozo, and from there you can catch a bus to any other corner of this expansive island.
It's not the best location if you want to walk into town and explore, but if you want a private paradise away from the hustle and bustle, Villagg tal Fanal is the perfect choice. Plus, if you're a hiker/walker like me, you can enjoy the stunning views along the 30-minute walk into town.
What amenities does Villagg Tal Fanal have?
The final verdict: great for those that want a peaceful escape
All in all, I really enjoyed my time at Villagg tal Fanal. It's best for the independent traveler as there's not a lot of staff around (it's more of a rental situation; they hand you the keys and you are pretty much on your own). I found it really nice as an individual looking for a quiet place to unwind at the end of the day, but I think it would be an ideal fit for groups or families that want to escape to their own private paradise. Final verdict? Villagg tal Fanal is a beautiful, comfortable, and secluded vacational rental for your Gozo holiday!
