Hi folks! I've decided to start a new series on the blog: "Monthly Wanderlust Destination". On the first of every month, I'll post about a destination I am lusting after and tell you a little bit about why I want to go there. So, without further ado, here is November's Wanderlust Destination...
I don't remember how old I was, where I saw it, or why I was watching a show about Mongolia, but I have a vivid memory of watching a video of dogs running around the Mongolian countryside. What with my obsession with dogs and love of the open country, it is no wonder that Mongolia immediately found a spot on my bucket list. I mean, come on, look at these puppers!! Plus, the history of dogs in Mongolia speaks to me on a personal level.

Still not convinced that Mongolia is a worthy wanderlust destination to kick off the series? How about these camels? I mean, come on, it's a bunch of camels! Who doesn't wanna hang out with a bunch of camels?!

Alright, alright, I'll get off my animal kick. Believe it or not, there are plenty of other reasons besides running with the dogs and petting the camels that put Mongolia near the top of my bucket list.
Like the fact that Mongolia is frickin' beautiful

I mean, seriously, you would have to be crazy not to want to enjoy that view. I'm imagine sitting at the edge of a tent while my boyfriend makes me some tea and the wild dog that we've adopted from the Mongolian countryside rests his head on my lap. Ahhh yes, that's the dream.
The reality? Knowing me I would probably be traveling solo, lost somewhere over that hill in the distance, trying to befriend the wild dogs that keep growling and running away from me. Either way, if I get to walk through this desert, I'll be happy.

Mongolia has been on my list for years, but the more I research it, the higher on my list it gets. I would like to spend a few weeks roaming the country side, maybe research a workaway option to get more involved in the local community. Either way, I am definitely going to make sure my trip overlaps with the Naadam festival, cause that sounds awesome.
My list of wanderlust destinations is long (as you will see through this Monthly Wanderlust Destination series), but Mongolia is definitely in the top 10. As always, I don't know what is next or when Mongolia will make an appearance, but I do know, some day, you will find me here:
