Everything about my time in Iceland was a dream come true, and this cabin was no exception. I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to stay here as the photos looked great, but when I arrived it was beyond my wildest dreams. This rental cabin in Iceland was a secluded paradise that I was devastated to leave.
Living in the middle of nowhere, yet next to everything
One of the things I love about Iceland is that everything is so close together, yet everywhere feels like the middle of nowhere. This rental cabin was no exception. When I pulled up to the cabin I felt totally alone. There were a few neighboring cabins, but they were all empty. I felt totally alone in the best way.
And yet it was only a 20-minute drive into Selfoss where I could get meals and groceries and I was located just off the Golden Circle, one of Iceland's two most popular tourist routes. That's one of the things I loved about this rental cabin in Iceland. It has tons of privacy and you really feel close to nature when you are there, but they don't sacrifice convenience in doing so.
The cabin itself was the perfect mix of modern and rustic
I had the entire cabin to myself and spent a good bit of time just wandering the rooms. Each room was immaculately decorated and the cabin had a very modern, chic vibe about it. And yet everything was wood and I was in the middle of the Icelandic countryside, so the rustic atmosphere was inevitable. I thought the cabin combined the two styles very well and couldn't help thinking if I owned a rental cabin in Iceland, it wouldn't be all that different.
The best part was the deck I could have spent days on
I don't think there is anything quite like lying in a steaming hot tub as a black sky with hundreds of stars stretches overhead. I could even see a glimpse of the Northern Lights from the deck!
Honestly the deck on this cabin alone makes it worth the visit. Between the grill, table, and hot tub, I am surprised I didn't end up spending my whole trip lounging out there. I guess I might have if it hadn't been so dang windy.
All in all, this rental cabin in Iceland has the WOW factor
I've stayed in a lot of places, but my favorites are always the ones that make me whisper, "wow," as I get the tour. This rental cabin in Iceland was one of those places. Not only was it stunning, but it's location was out of this world. I'm not sure I'll ever get the chance, but if I do I would love to go back some day.
