As I write this, I'm watching snow fall outside my window. And I'm dreaming of climates much warmer than my own. Don't get me wrong, I love winter. I love watching the snow fall, curling up by the fire, and listening to Christmas carols on repeat. But I also love the sunshine. I am a Californian after all, so I am basically fueled by Vitamin D. I'm spending this winter in Edinburgh, New York City, and Lake Tahoe; three destinations that are going to be very cold. So for this month's wanderlust destination, I decided to pick something a little warmer. Because maybe just dreaming about the desert will warm me up. Which is why, for the December wanderlust destination, I chose the Sahara Desert!
December Wanderlust Destination: Sahara Desert
I have always longed to see the Sahara desert. Every picture of it makes me think of a National Geographic cover, and who doesn't want their life to resemble a National Geographic cover? To be honest, for the longest time I didn't even know what there was to do in the Sahara Desert. I just knew I wanted to see this:
For those of you who still don't know, there's lots to do in the Sahara Desert! You can go on camel treks and meet furry, funny-faced creatures like this guy:
If you are adventurous to take on one of the overnight camel treks, you will be greatly rewarded by sunset views and brilliant night skies.
But it's not just about camel rides and stargazing! You can ride quads over the dunes, get your adrenaline pumping with some epic sand boarding, relax with a desert spa day (it's a thing!), or search for the elusive desert fox.
So, basically, I want to get my butt over to the Sahara Desert for a camel trek, sandboarding, wildlife spotting, adventure of a lifetime. Who want's to join me??
